India-China Conflict, September 2020

Enigma Clothed In Maxims

India must garner all the wisdom of Chanakya to counter Chinese deception plans. China has to be shown that two can play the strategic game; if ancient China had “iGo”- commonly known as “Go” – which has an objective of surrounding a larger total area on the game-board, ancient India had “Shatranj”, a game of manoeuvring that all are familiar with (the word iGo in Mandarin means literally to ‘encircle’). China has been blocking India’s ‘manoeuvrability’, be it physically, as now in Ladakh, or diplomatically, by objecting to its membership of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) or a permanent seat in the UNSC, and, elsewhere.
