Indian Air Force Takes to Greek Skies for INIOCHOS-25 Multinational Exercise

In a powerful display of international military cooperation, the Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to participate in Exercise INIOCHOS-25, a high-intensity multinational air combat exercise hosted by the Hellenic Air Force of Greece. The exercise will be conducted at Andravida Air Base from March 31 to April 11, 2025, and will feature participation from air forces of 15 countries.

India's Contingent

The IAF is deploying its formidable Su-30 MKI multirole fighters, supported by IL-78 mid-air refuellers and C-17 Globemaster transport aircraft. These assets reflect India’s comprehensive aerial combat capability—from offensive air superiority to strategic airlift and force multiplication.

About INIOCHOS

INIOCHOS is a biennial multinational air exercise that has earned its place among the world’s premier joint air warfare training events. It is designed to simulate modern-day air combat scenarios, integrating both air and surface assets across challenging missions. Hosted by Greece, the exercise offers a unique environment to practice combined air operations in a realistic, intense and interoperable setting.

Objectives of IAF Participation

The IAF aims to achieve multiple objectives through its participation in INIOCHOS-25:

Enhancing Interoperability: Working alongside diverse air forces improves coordination in multinational missions and crisis response.

Tactical Refinement: The IAF will engage in complex scenarios that hone tactics, threat response and mission execution under realistic combat conditions.

Knowledge Exchange: The exercise promotes the sharing of operational insights and best practices with global partners.

Strengthening Strategic Ties: IAF’s presence bolsters India's defence diplomacy and deepens military relations with friendly nations.

Strategic Significance

India’s participation highlights its growing role as a responsible and capable air power in the international defence community. As global security challenges become more integrated and transnational, exercises like INIOCHOS-25 reinforce the importance of joint training and strategic alignment. It also aligns with India’s vision for a secure Indo-Pacific region and its broader objectives of global military collaboration, preparedness and peacekeeping.

Conclusion

As the Indian Air Force prepares to fly its flag over Greek skies during INIOCHOS-25, it continues its mission of “Touch the Sky with Glory” by expanding its global reach, sharpening its edge, and fostering unity with international partners. This exercise not only reinforces India’s operational readiness but also strengthens the foundation for future joint operations and defence cooperation worldwide.
